Danny Morris
Danny Morris played the French Horn in the Nottinghamshire County Orchestra, and was a former member of the South Nottinghamshire Music School and of the Arnold Hill School. He died in September 1984 at the age of 19 years. The Danny Morris Memorial Trust Fund was established in 1985 to assist young musicians, especially players of the French Horn, but also other orchestral instrumental players and singers. Approximately £20,000 has been raised to date, and the interest from investments (about £1,200 at the moment) is distributed annually after candidates have attended an interview/audition. Over the last 38 years grants totalling about £30,000 have been made.
Object
The object of the Trust Fund is to facilitate, further and promote the study of the French Horn and its literature by providing assistance for orchestral horn players towards the cost of purchasing instruments, or for tuition fees.
Players of other instruments, and singers, may also apply, but French Horn players will be given preference.
